March 20, 2018 General Primary Election


Lake County voters will nominate:
  • County Clerk
  • Treasurer
  • Sheriff
  • Regional Superintendent of Schools
  • County Board Member for Districts 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21
  • North Shore Water Reclamation District for Wards 3 and 5
Offices to be elected: 
  • Precinct Committeemen for the two major political parties
  • The City of Lake Forest Aldermen
Citizens may choose to vote by mail, early, or on Election Day. Before a ballot can be issued, every voter must sign a ballot application for each election. Voter's identity is verified by a signature match to voter's original registration record.

Voter Registration
  • Register online through the Illinois State Board of Elections.
    Available until Mar. 4. Illinois driver's license or state identification is required.
  • Register in person
    Available until Feb. 20 with a deputy registrar.
  • Register by mail
    Must be postmarked or delivered to the clerk's office by Feb. 20.
  • Grace Registration
    Feb. 21 - Mar. 20
    At the clerk's office during weekday business hours. When open, also available at any early voting or assigned Election Day voting site.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of their precinct for 30 days before Election Day, 18 years old on or before the general election, provide two forms of valid identification, and vote at the time of registration. Both pieces of identification must show voter’s name and one must show current Lake County address.
